ELIZABETH (BETTY) VALDEZ

Passed away peacefully at

Greenwoods on Wednesday

September 22, at the age of 91.

Betty immigrated from Scotland to Calgary where she met her late husband Frank Valdez. In 1961 they moved to Salt Spring where they owned and operated the Vesuvius Marina, now the Seaside Restaurant. Betty had a long, successful career in real estate. She was a keen bridge player, a leading member of the Eastern Star and a volunteer with the Lady Minto Hospital Auxilary.

Despite the distance, Betty stayed close to her family who have happy memories of their many summer visits to SSI. A loving sister, Aunt, and Sister in Law, she will be greatly missed by her family back home in Scotland and her neice Judy Guedes and sister-in-law Millie Valez of Salt Spring. Her friends will remember Betty for her courage, determination and dignity.

The family wishes to thank the Greenwoods staff for making Betty’s life happy and enjoyable and for their attentive, compassionate care.

Betty wished simply to be remembered during a Sunday Service of the Baptist Church. She will be interred on Salt Spring. Condolences and memories can be sent to twotenners@talktalk.net.
