Heather Lynne Spain (nee Edwards)

Heather Lynne Spain (nee Edwards)

October 21, 1946 – January 19, 2014

Heather died peacefully at home on Salt Spring Island, surrounded by family, after a short battle with cancer.  She is survived by her mom Win Edwards (98) of Salt Spring; son Shawn (Candice) Spain of Black Creek; daughter Shelly Spain of Langley; sisters Sandy Robley and Sharon Renton of Salt Spring; her friend Michael Shah of Salt Spring; grandchildren Tiffany, Sophie, Zac, Colby and Danica of Langley; Larissa and Dawson of Black Creek; her great granddaughter Amy of Langley; and her nieces and nephews.

Heather loved camping, kayaking, aqua aerobics, walking the “boardwalk stroll” with her dog Bella, meeting her “cronies” at the Treehouse Cafe, the ocean, and her family.  She had paddled most of Vancouver Island and could tell many stories of her great trips. She cherished the view from her home, and loved to watch the ocean from her deck.

Heather was born in Vancouver and spent her childhood in North Vancouver, where she lived until she married. She lived in Langley, on Savary Island, and then moved to Salt Spring in 1987.

Heather will be sadly missed by her friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Lady Minto Ladies Auxiliary Association (Thrift Store) in her name.

A small, private service will be held at a later date.
