Joan Conlon (nee Kay)

September 7, 1930 – February 15, 2015

Joan passed away peacefully at Lady Minto Hospital on February 15, 2015. She is survived by her husband of thirty six years, Bob Conlon, and was predeceased by her parents Tom and Helen Kay of Lancashire and her sister Freda (Trevor) of Vancouver.

Joan was born in Bromley Cross, Lancashire. England and came to Canada in 1965. She worked in Vancouver at various jobs and retired from BC Hydro in 1990 after which they started building their dream home on Salt Spring Island. Joan loved golfing, yoga and she and Bob were members of the SSI Legion. Joan also counseled women going through Breast Cancer thirty years ago after her own diagnosis, a time when the subject was not readily discussed.

The family would like to thank Donna, Lisa and Margo of Access Care Management for their care over the last five years. Thank you to the home support workers at Beacon, Dr. Ryan and the doctors, nurses and staff at Lady Minto Hospital. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 7th at 1-3pm at their home at 154 Cormorant Cres. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lady Minto Hospital Foundation.
