With great sadness we announce that our dear Uncle Jack quietly departed these shores on the evening of December 6, having just gamely scraped past his 82nd birthday.
Jack was the informer and mentor of our youth, the exuberant and energetic “adult” who introduced his nephews and niece to skiing, sailing and the joys of the drive-in restaurant. Uncle Jack was a world traveller and
trans-Atlantic sailor whose youthful successes
as rally driver and navigator inspired many a hair-raising Sunday afternoon drive for Norma and Fred Eves and their four shrieking children, Susan, Nigel, Colin and Geoffrey.
A lover of food, drink and the fairer sex,
Jack’s enthusiasm for golf far exceeded his skill level, but he was truly in a class of his own when it came to leading a conga line,
boat race or game of charades.
We will be having a celebration of Jack’s life in the New Year, at a time and place to be announced. He will be sorely disappointed
at missing the party, and one last opportunity to kiss all the ladies present.
Thanks to the very kind staff at Greenwoods, Lady Minto Hospital, and Dr. David Woodley, who all took such good care
of Uncle Jack over this last year.
