Lorraine Eva “Rainie” Norfolk (nee Heard) died on January 9th, 2015 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her parents, Alec and Ivy Heard, and by her son, James Randall Wiens. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband of 43 years, Terry, daughter Leslie (Chris), beloved grandchildren, Allie, Liam, Jaci, and Zoe, step-daughter Susan (Bruce) and Susan’s children and grandchildren. Lorraine is also survived by her brother Brian, cousins, Bobby, Shirley and many, many treasured friends.
Lorraine was a woman of many talents including interior design, gardening, painting and she loved to prepare amazing meals for family and friends. She is known for her community work on Salt Spring with her involvement in the Splash project, her work with the Red Cross, the formation of the Newcomers’ Club and, of course, her role in improving roads earning her the title of ‘the pothole lady’.
A card recently received by her husband perhaps sums up Lorraine better than anything: “She…was quite a lady.” We will miss you, beautiful lady.
Our thanks go out to the great staff at Lady Minto. They gave their best for Lorraine. Special thanks to Dr. White for his help and care.
A celebration of Lorraine’s life will beheld within the coming weeks. Information to follow.
