Ivy Lucille Piperno

1930 – 2011

It is with profound sadness that we announce Ivy’s passing on November 22, 2011. She will be always in our hearts and thoughts. Ivy was predeceased by her brother Bud [Arthur] and her husband Donald. Ivy leaves her loving sister Grace [Powell River, B.C.], brother Marquis [Dryden, Ontario and loving daughters Wendy Fleet, Mary Piperno and loving son Victor Piperno, loving grandchildren Derek, Dean, Darren, David and Brittany, great grandsons Mackenzie and Isaac. Ivy also leaves many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and many friends. Ivy was a friend to all who met her. She loved her family, friends, the daily word search, her favourite soap One Life to Live and also Judge Judy.

She had a phenomenal memory, loved knitting, crocheting and had a great sense of humour which we will all miss. Ivy was born in Fort William, Ontario and moved to SSI in 1957. None of her children had ever seen her angry she had great patience and loved children. Through the years she  baby sat dozens of children and thoroughly enjoyed it and missed them when they had to go home. She always read the daily paper and kept up with the news of the day. Everyone who had a dish of her blackberry crumble always asked for seconds. The service was held November 26th. with internment at the Central Cemetery. Anyone wishing to donate in Ivy’s name please donate to Seniors for Seniors this was one of her favourite things in her later years going to the seniors lunch and coffee sessions. She really enjoyed conversing with people be it one to one or in a group. She was a very special lady who will be missed by all who knew her.

The family of Ivy Piperno would like to thank the following: Lady Minto Hospital nurses and staff, Dr.Paula Ryan, SSI Highways crew, Thrifty’s, Country Grocer, the Harbour House Hotel, Seniors for Seniors, Patrick and staff of Hayward’s Funeral Home. Chris from the Community Gospel Church where the service was held. Also  special thanks to Rita Dods and Bobby Wood and the people that spoke at Ivy’s service
