Donna Winter
December 28, 1937 – April 7, 2013
It is with great sadness the family of Donna Winter announces her sudden death on April 7, 2013 due to surgical complications.
Donna Marie was born on Salt Spring Island on December 28, 1937 to Isabel and Laurie Mouat. It was here she met and married David Winter (predeceased 2008), and their union produced two children: Keith and Laura. The family lived on Salt Spring for many years before moving to Victoria. Donna and Dave lived on the sea for some time before planting roots in Cobble Hill.
Donna was a published author of her sailing adventures with Dave and first mate ‘Sunday’ the cat along the BC coast aboard the ‘Stone Spirit’. She and Dave made many friends during their sailing trips, and her home, whether it was on land or sea, was always a welcoming environment. Donna was a compassionate friend to all who needed support, and had a soft spot for animals. She loved gardening, playing the piano, photography, and her shortbread was unparalleled.
Left to mourn their beloved Mum are son Keith and wife Laurie Nelson, and daughter Laura and husband Eric Rowlett. Sister, Yvonne Bryant, along with husband Andrew and their family will also miss Donna terribly.
