Edith Joyce Noela Parsons passed away March 25, 2011 at Cairnsmore Place, Duncan, B.C.
Joyce was predeceased by her daughter J. Marilyn Elaine Chan in 1985, and by her brother Arthur Hedley Holmes in 1998.
Left to mourn are her son David of Duncan, sister Muriel Toombs of Duncan, grandsons Dean Chan of Vancouver and Brent Chan of Victoria, step-grandson Patrick Chan of Edmonton, sister-in-law Betty Holmes of Perth, Australia; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Educated in Prince Albert and Saskatoon, Joyce graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1941 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
She moved to Salt Spring Island with her parents in 19451, where she lived and worked till moving to Duncan in 1991.
She was a former Brownie/Guide leader and taught Sunday school for many years. A member of the IODE since 1954, she held many offices including regent of the HMS Ganges chapter. She was also a member of the Senior Auxiliary to the Cowichan District Hospital for 10 years.
A member of the Anglican Church and latterly of the Cowichan Valley Salvation Army, Church of the Nazarene, and St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.

Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Somenos Road, Duncan.
