(nee Gillis)

Beloved wife of Don, Hilda passed on peacefully after a short stay in Lady Minto hospital.
She was born in Cranbrook BC and grew up in lumber towns from Prince George to Cowichan and the Sunshine Coast. In 1947 she was married in North Vancouver where she and Don lived for 50 years, moving to Salt Spring Island to be close to their daughter and grandson. An able secretary for a lumber company she graduated to being a devoted home maker, and was always an important influence with her close relations, who communicated with her almost daily. Devoted to her husband and family, an inveterate player and winner at Bingo, she spent many happy summer holidays camping at Summer’s Creek near Princeton enjoying fishing and the outdoors. Her strength of character and forceful opinions will be greatly missed as well as her kind and generous spirit. Brothers Harold and Bert and sister Helen predeceased her. Hilda leaves husband Don, daughter Betty – Lou, (Peter) and grandson D.J. to treasure her memory.
There will be a family celebration of her life and no service by request. Hilda would be happy to know that instead of flowers, a donation to a charity be given, or a small act of kindness to someone were done.
Acknowledgement is gratefully made to Dr White and all the nurses and staff of Lady Minto for their care and many kindnesses to Hilda.
