LISA ERIKSEN KELLOGG

0

Lisa Eriksen Kellogg, 75, of Fall City, Washington, passed away on Sunday evening, Oct 24, 2010, at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, Washington.

Lisa was born Inger-Elisabeth Eriksen, on February 8, 1935, in Grenaa, Danmark. She lived with her mother and father, Alma and Johannes Eriksen, and brothers Svent, Jorgen, Bent, and Frans, on their farm, Naesgaard. After completing secondary school, and attending university in Copenhagen, she travelled across the Atlantic to work in Canada as an airline stewardess. Lisa met her future husband and love of her life, Robert Payne Kellogg, during this time. They were married on December 20, 1959, in Arhus, Danmark. Bob and Lisa lived in Edmonton, Alberta, and Seattle, before settling in Lakewood, Washington where they raised three daughters and made a home. After Bob’s death in 1999, Lisa moved to Fall City, Washington, and lived next door to her daughter Inga and son-in-law John Rouches.

Lisa first came to Salt Spring in 1957, and over the rest of her life gave her love and energy to the Kellogg family’s farm at Musgrave. It was one of her favorite places, and she spent many wonderful times there, connecting with nature and wildlife, gardening, embracing the company of family and friends, and travelling the Sansum Narrows in her skiff. Lisa’s family from Danmark often visited at Musgrave and shared in the beauty of the land. She loved animals, music, and inspiring others to live their dreams. She is remembered for her grace, tenacity, generosity, strength, and courage.

Lisa is survived and greatly missed by daughters Inga Rouches of Fall City, Washington, Susanna Kellogg of Friday Harbor, Washington, Vivian Kellogg of Ketchikan, Alaska, brothers Jorgen Eriksen of Grenaa, Danmark, Frans Eriksen of Risskov, Danmark, son-in-law John Rouches and grandchildren Jake and Sophia Rouches of Fall City, Washington, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A service in honor of Lisa will be held Saturday November 20, at East Shore Unitarian Church, 12700 SE 32nd St., in Bellevue, Washington, from 1 to 4 pm.

JOHN GREGORY OBLATI

0

Born September16th, 1968

in Sydney Australia

John passed away suddenly this week in Australia at the home of his brother David Oblati. John is survived by his partner Kathleen (Katy) Scaia, his mother Anita Oblati, his younger sister Susan Willis and her husband Steven and their daughters Maya and Jasmin, also John’s oldest brother David Oblati, David’s wife Pauline and their son Michael, John’s step-son Angelo Scaia, Angelo’s partner Kathryn Burke and their daughter Ella Scaia and his step-daughter Holly Bryant. Also, I would like to acknowledge John’s dear life long friends Alicia Seijas , Bill Benton, and Wayne Lovise.

John grew up in Sydney and attended high school there. He worked in Sydney until he moved to Canada in 1995 in his mid twenties. John married Anna Callegari in 1996 and they separated in 2002 after moving to Salt Spring Island in 1998.

John travelled extensively in Asia where he collected handicrafts and he started a shop in the basement of Mouat’s called Rafflasia where he sold collections from his travels. In 2003, John started a window cleaning business with his step-son Angelo Scaia. John’s big blue truck advertising his business Super Clean was well known on the island and his devotion to his customers was legendary.

John cared deeply about his friends and family and that care was evident in the way he kept in touch with people near and far, particularly his family in Australia with whom he was in constant contact through Skype, mail and phone calls.

There are many friends to thank who have been there for John and I and our families throughout the mental illness that finally took his life. In particular I would like to thank Ros Schneider and Matt Steffich.

Everyone who knew John will mourn his passing. No one can replace him and he will always be missed by all who loved him.
