Passed away peacefully, November 28, 2011, with her children by her side.
Our loving Mom, Oma, Great Oma, Sister, Auntie and Friend.
Born in Rotterdam, The Netherlands on December 18, 1914.
Her loving husband Frank J.P. Schwagly (1974) pre-deceased her, as did her second husband Fred Gilman (1992) and her three infant children.
Nellie is survived by her loving children, Marijke/Bram, Johanna, Frank/Myrna, Elly/Rod, Henry/Linda, Fred’s sons, Ed and Don and their families and 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Survived by her two sisters, Joke and Henny, many nieces, nephews and family members in Holland.
The Schwagly family moved to Canada in 1957.They owned and operated the Dutch Beauty Salon in Victoria and on Salt Spring Island. Nelly was very proud to have been chosen to do the hair of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands while on a visit to Canada.
Nelly was a devoted member of the R.C.Church Lady of Grace, C.W.L., Lady Lions, Legion, Seniors for Seniors and the Lost Chords Choir.
Nellie’s family would like to thank, the Owner and Staff of Dover House Care Home, for all the years of such loving care of our Mom, and we also thank the staff of Dufferin Place.
We will always remember our Mom for her love and inner strength.
