William Charles Hann

HANN, William Charles (Bill) passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, after a sixteen-month battle with brain cancer. Bill is survived by his loving wife Maureen and his little treasures Alexander 6 and Samantha 4, as well as his Mum and Dad, Lavinia and Bob, sister Joelle, Maureen’s parents Dianne and Terry and her sister Mia and family.

Bill was born in Victoria on June 8, 1975 and the family moved to Salt Spring Island six weeks later. Bill attended elementary school on Salt Spring and later moved to St. Michael’s University School in Victoria. Following graduation, Bill attended Bishop’s University in Lennoxville, Quebec, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management.

After university, Bill learned to fly, then flew float planes in the Queen Charlottes, before going to the Maldives for six months. On his return to Canada, Bill flew with Harbour Air, Central Mountain Air and then achieved a life long dream of flying for WestJet.

Bill was hardworking and professional, yet always eager to help anyone in need, friend of stranger. His friendliness and wonderful, dry sense of humour made him friends wherever he went. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

No flowers please. Donations, if you wish should go to St. Michael’s University School Annual fund (year of 1993), WestJet Pilots Association fund, Christ Church Cathedral School Bursary fund, or the BC Cancer Society, all of whom have been incredibly supportive through this difficult time.

For information on the Celebration of Life for Bill Hann, please call Lavinia and Bob at 250-537-9566.
